Handing down the techniques (History)
Since its founding in 1908, Karaki Tategu Joinery has spent over a century working on a wide variety of projects, ranging from wooden fittings for private homes to the restoration of fittings for cultural heritage. Today, our expertise has expanded to include new construction, rebuilds, and renovation projects.

Our Workshop
Our workshop dates back many years. It houses a broad range of equipment, from the latest machinery to the treasured hand tools passed down from the craftsmen of earlier generations, some of which are no longer available today.

Skilled Craftsmanship with In-House Precision
We, the craftsmen, meet directly with our clients to discuss their needs, and each fitting is crafted in our own workshop. This direct approach ensures precision and provides a high level of care and attention that brings peace of mind to our clients.

Master Craftsman as a Supervisor
For new builds, rebuilds, or renovation projects, one of our in-house supervisors always oversees the work on site.
With both a nationally certified qualification and an expert eye developed from years of experience as a finishing craftsman, we supervise and take full responsibility for managing the entire project. We never outsource work to external contractors.

Skills Passed Down from Cultural Heritage Restoration
In addition to the skills we have honed since our founding, we have inherited the wisdom and techniques from working on numerous historic buildings, including important cultural properties, traditional houses, and tea rooms.
These time-honored techniques continue to delight our clients today, and we are committed to passing them on to the next generation.
